Founder and editor in chief of JudoInside.com and commentator for Eurosport. He worked for a number of TV companies as editor and started an own business in sports statistics in The Netherlands which he merged with a larger Sports data company in 1998 and used to work for a number of Sports data Distributors. Van Essen, launched JudoInside.com in March 2002. Was Media Director of the EJU from 2009-2014. He continued to build out JudoInside.com as number 1 judo portal.
