I have been involved in Judo for over 25 years and I'm am EJU L4 Performance coach

Hi

My name is Steve Squire, I have now been involved in Judo for more than 25 years, initially as a competitor but over time my role has evolved and my focus is now predominantly that of a coach.  I hold the grade of 3rd Dan, am a BJA UKCC L2 Coach and hold a EJU L4 Performance coach with a BSc in High performance sports coaching.  Alongside this I am qualified as a senior examiner, a referee and a competition official allowing me to view Judo contest through multiple viewpoints enabling me to give the athletes I work with the best feedback and advice.

I am currently the head coach at South Brent Judo Club working with players from grass roots participation to Cadet and Junior International players representing England and Great Britain selected to a number of different performance development programs within British Judo.  I have also worked as a county and regional coach bringing players together to enhance training opportunities as well as leading the Judo programs for both Exeter and Plymouth universities during which time their athletes where successful at winning individual and team medals through every year of my involvement.

I believe that the keys to success are Hard work and applying that hard work in training to the evidence we can gained through analysis of what we have done.  Whilst we may have traditionally coached by "what felt right" at the time evidence based coaching and development is the key to making maximal gains for all athletes

I offer technical and tactical analysis of your competitions on either a fight by fight basis, as an overall contest review or a combination of the two.

I also offer technique analysis to help you with the refinement and development of the techniques you use in competition,
